Recall explanation

EDITOR: Recall has been a fundamental part of our governmental system since 1911 when Article II was amended to the California Constitution by voters. Recall has been used by voters to express their dissatisfaction with their elected representatives. The effort to recall the El Dorado County supervisors has been brought forward by a countywide group […]

Where are developers going to get the water?

EDITOR: Regarding Parker Development’s plan to build 1,000 more water-consuming homes, I don’t know about other residents, but this resident does not want to be forced into even more draconian water shortage measures just to feed some developer’s desire to saturate El Dorado Hills with another thousand water-consuming homes. And remember folks, these numbers do not include the […]

Mello-Roos never go away

EDITOR: I got a good laugh out of all the El Dorado Hills residents thinking that somehow their Mello-Roos taxes were going to go away (“Serrano residents want school financing end date,” Nov. 11 Village Life). One of the first rules of thumb when buying a house is to make sure there are no Mello-Roos […]

Raising rates, again

EDITOR: On Nov. 9, by 3-2 vote, the El Dorado Irrigation District board voted to raise rates for 2016 by 5 percent to pay for more debt. Not once were employee costs discussed even though they represent 57 percent of operating expenses. Since 2003 EID boards have been very irresponsible in managing compensation. In 2004 the EID board voted to […]
