Protelo business software provider opens in Palladio
Christer Johansson, president of Protelo, opened offices in Palladio in early March.
Johansson came from Sweden, where he was a programmer, to work for a software company in Folsom in 1991. In 2008 he went on his own with a consulting company, Protelo, located on Blue Ravine Road. His focus was on helping companies improve and modernize their legacy software.
Protelo joined with NetSuite as its Premier Business Application partner. With NetSuite, Protelo can provide an integrated web-based data source for all facets of business — accounting, inventory, customer relationship management, professional services and e-commerce, including analytics — that can be accessed by anyone in the company using a customized dashboard.
“It’s a startup’s dream,” said Johansson.
As the legacy software reaches its full use, Protelo converts the system to the cloud by gradually phasing in the transition. “From QuickBooks to NetSuite,” Johansson explained.
Randall Ferre, business development manager, has worked with Johansson for many years. His combination of business and IT education and experience complements Johansson’s expertise and vision for the company.
They see the cloud as the future of business software, saving businesses money on maintenance and upgrades, and providing real-time information throughout the company. “Businesses are so competitive today, they can’t afford to be in the dark,” said Ferre.
Protelo grew from two to 14 employees, outgrowing its previous quarters. The offices in Palladio also house Logic Solutions, which provides custom iPhone and iPad development. The two companies met and worked together on services for Maui Jim Sunglasses and continue to combine services.
The offices overlook the fountain and plaza at Palladio. “It reminds of where I worked in Sweden. I feel comfortable here,” said Johansson. “It’s a great place to recruit people and invite clients.”
