Cameron Park CSD summer events

Aquatics Center opens
May 19:
The new water slide opens at the Community Center Pool. Weekend hours are 1 to 5 p.m.; weekdays beginning May 29 are 1 to 4 p.m.; evenings beginning May 21 are 7:15 to 9 p.m.

Private and group swim lessons are available for all ages

Cameron Park Lake Swimming Lagoon opens May 26. Lake, pool and combination passes are available for purchase at 2011 prices until May 25.

Special events
May 12: Stop by the Spring Antique, Craft and Garden Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cameron Park Community Center — free Admission. On the hunt for antiques, handcrafted items or garden accessories? This large, indoor show features hundreds of antiques, handmade crafts, specific for the spring season and garden accessories. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. A wine tasting fund raiser sponsored by EDDOG will also take place. Cost is $55 for vendor space, $10 extra for electricity.

Cameron Park Concert Series
May 19: The Capitol Pops Concert Band will perform from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Cameron Park Community Center gymnasium. Performing since 1977, the concert band has provided high quality music for thousands of concert-goers throughout Northern California. Based in Citrus Heights, the band has been under the leadership of Jerry Lopes since its inception; 71 musicians represent a cross-section of the area ranging from high school to age 99. $5 gourmet snack assortments provided by Diane Wilkinson Catering. Beer, wine, water and soda provided by Cameron Park Community Foundation.

Advance tickets are $10 per person or $18 for two tickets; $12 per person at the door. Tickets are available at the Cameron Park CSD office and the Shingle Springs/Cameron Park Chamber of Commerce and online at showclix.com.

Welcome to Summer
May 26: Free Swim Day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Cameron Park Community and Aquatic Center. Plan your summer at this event and register for a variety of new summer adventures including pool passes, swim lessons, summer camps, summer programs, special events and more. Save your spot and purchase your Summer Spectacular wrist bands! Also, enjoy food and vendor booths, $1 hot dogs, giveaways, and a thank you to our community sponsors.

Recreation and education
Dance:
If dance is something you’ve always wanted to try, or something you’ve been doing for years, the Cameron Park CSD has dance classes for you. Our youth dance classes include Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, Musical Theater and more. Our adult classes include Ballroom Dance, East Coast Swing, Foxtrot, Waltz, and Salsa, Yoga, Mediation and much more. There is a little something for everyone, even those with two left feet.

Zumba Gold Toning classes are offered for ages 18 and up. This class involves low-to-moderate strength training. It will combine Zumba choreography and moves with the Zumba lightweight toning sticks to enhance endurance and muscle strength (Zumba toning sticks provided). This is a great way to have fun and improve your muscle strength and toning.

Sports: Ready to get your game on? We have sport camps and leagues for everyone who is interested in soccer, basketball, tennis and softball. Whether you simply want to fine tune your skills or join a league, we’ve got options for you.

Education: Is you child having a difficult time with multiplication and addition and subtraction then sign your student up for the Math classes offered.

Summer camps: We provide week-long youth camps focusing in sports, equestrian and dance, as well as a variety of themed camps for ages 6 to 12 with fun trips.

Cooking classes: If you want to be the next Chopped Champion, you’d better start here first. We are offering various cooking classes from baking cookies to learning Thai.  Bon appetite!
