People Talk – What makes Cameron Park a special place to live? Part 2
Barbara Lyghtle, Cameron Park âI spent most of my life in Modesto and came here a couple years ago to be near my family in Rescue. I have a beautiful golf course view and a whole new circle of friends from Snowline Hospice, where I volunteer. The people here are so friendly.â
Editor’s note: You might have noticed that last month’s People Talk question and answers published in the paper were out of sync. This is the question we meant to print and some fresh answers.
Ron Short, Cameron Park “I came to the county to join Serrano Country Club, but couldn’t get in right away. I checked out Cameron Park’s golf course and country club and loved what I saw. I moved here from El Dorado Hills in 2006. It’s a friendly community, not real rush rush. People know you at the grocery store here.”

- Blake Bronson, Cameron Park âMy brother lived here. I bought in â99; the guy told me it was above the smog and below the snow. Good deal. I came from Fremont. The quality of life here is far better … far less traffic and crime. I love it here.â
- John Heally, Cameron Park âMy great-grandfather was born right here. He was a 49er. My grandfather owned Cronin Ranch. So my whole family has always been here and we love it. I used to play tennis with Ruth Cameron. What a sweet lady. That lady was ready for anything.â

- Ted Wakefield, Cameron Park âItâs quiet here. Also, I love watching the planes take off and land. The scenery here is almost European. And thereâs enough commercial here to make it convenient.â
