Where did summer go?

School bells may be ringing but there’s still time to have some summer fun with the Cameron Park Community Services District.

Youth activities
Kids Summer Day Kamp, MAMA and ME Yoga, Pre-Tap, Youth Hula, Baby Ballet, Pre-Ballet, Spanish for Elementary Students, Tiny Tots Tennis, Pre-Academy Tennis and Junior Tennis.

For adults
Thai Cooking-Traditional Course A, Let’s Uke, Yoga Session 101 A, Adult Yoga, Zumba Gold Toning, Tai Chi, Beginning Hula, Advanced Hula, Beginner and Intermediate Line Dance, East Coast Swing, CPR and First Aid and Hunter Safety. Want to learn about birds? Check out the intro to bird watching class offered on Aug. 17. This class will give you the chance to learn the basics of identifying birds.

For those who want to compete, join the action with an adult basketball league or drop-in sports at the gym.

Seniors too
Seniors, join us at he Cameron Park Community Center on the second Tuesday of the month for Coffee, Tea and Friends sponsored by Visiting Angels, 10 to 11:30 a.m. This month’s topic will be deer-resistant gardening.  Then on the second Thursday of the month attend a movie sponsored by Friends of the Library, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Feel like playing a game or two? Come to the CPCSD social room. Mah Jong will be played at 1 p.m. on Aug. 14 & 28. Bridge is played from 1:30 to 4 p.m. on Mondays and 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Senior Games Day will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Aug. 27.  Games include Mexican train dominoes, Crown 5, Hand and Foot, Bingo (designated months), Yahtzee, Rummykube and more  Swing on by and play some new and old games.

Water Aerobics continue at 9 a.m. Monday through Friday as well as 6:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday.

For everyone
Cameron Park Lake will be open for swimming until Aug. 11 and is a great place for exercise, picnics, boat rentals and tennis.

Pooch Plunge and laps
Aug. 17: Start the day at Cameron Park Lake with a one-lap fun run, without dogs, or a one-lap walk with your furry friends. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m., with the lap events starting at 8:30 a.m. A free, quarter-mile fun run for children 12 and younger precedes the run/walk. Afterward, let your four-legged friends cool off at the Pooch Plunge event beginning at 10 a.m. Dogs of all shapes and sizes can enjoy running, jumping and swimming through the Cameron Park Lake Lagoon during this dog-only swimming day. The event will feature pet, food and beverage vendors, raffle prizes and much more. The lagoon will be open from 10: a.m. to 3 p.m.

Coming is September
Sept. 7 & 8: Don’t miss the Renaissance Tudor Fayre at Cameron Park Lake.

Sept. 13 & 14: A barbecue event will be held at Christa McAuliffe Park.

Sept. 21: Bring your junk to the Community Clean Up Day and Swap Meet at the Cameron Park Community Center and Camerado Middle School.
