Stracener mailers show his true character

EDITOR: Hypocrisy? At a forum I attended, Judge Warren Stracener spoke compassionately about the kids he encounters in juvenile court. But last spring and again this week he mailed campaign flyers that proudly displayed his family photo on one side and recklessly smeared his opponent on the other. How does Mr. Stracener explain to his […]

We need change on the fire board

I read the Fire Board incumbent’s comments. What I conclude is “trust me.”  As an observer of board and committee meetings, I can say the two gentlemen are good people.  hat’s not today’s issue. With their history of a decade of unlimited resources were they realistic? Have they demonstrated fiscal balance, reasonable employee benefits? The […]

Fire board fiscally prudent?

I read with dismay your front page article on Oct. 17 implying the present fire board has exercised sound fiscal management. This is absurd given the extravagant compensation EDH firefighters receive. Their annual salary, overtime and education incentives average about $135,000 to $140,000 in addition to fully paid health care and an attractive retirement plan. […]

A taxpayer for Sherry & Craig Petersen

EDITOR: Mr. Christian failed to mention his expertise is grounded in his career as a firefighter. If I were a firefighter, and wanted to see the great pay and benefits continue to be offered in El Dorado Hills, I would probably draft a similar letter. But I’m just a taxpayer in El Dorado County. A […]

Support Muse, Veerkamp

EDITOR: With all the funding challenges facing school districts across the state, it’s refreshing to know that our high school district has a Board of Trustees with the knowledge, leadership and wisdom to effectively position the district to continue its drive to achieve academic excellence. Measure Q was passed by the voters of El Dorado […]

Don’t turn our fire department into ‘average’

EDITOR: I’m going to need some clarification on the Petersens plans to bring “smaller, more agile, ‘ambulance-like vehicles’” to El Dorado Hills. If their plan is to augment our current firefighter-paramedics responding to emergencies in fire engines, then I’m all for it. However, seeing as they plan on reducing our fire department budget, I don’t see how […]
