CSD board beware: Voters are watching

EDITOR: As a concerned El Dorado Hills resident I do not have the slightest idea of whom to believe or what to believe in this standoff with the El Dorado Hills Community Services District board and John Skeel, the recently hired CSD general manager, now on paid administrative leave going on close to five months. […]

EID’s budget claims don’t hold water

The El Dorado Irrigation District’s Nov. 15 press release misleadingly claims a “nearly flat” 2012 budget. Yet gross spending actually is board-approved to increase by $1.7 million. EID’s headquarters overhead budget surges another$1.2 million following $10 million of overhead increases in the last eight years. Overhead now accounts for a “whopping” 30 percent of EID […]

EID board thumbs nose at ratepayers

On Nov. 14, after closed session, the El Dorado Irrigation District Board of Directors returned to an empty board room gallery to vote general manager and general counsel contract extensions to September 2016. Where’s the coverage of ‘Occupy Movement?’

EDITOR: Where’s the coverage? Last Monday morning I sat in Peet’s Coffee House in El Dorado Hills — minding my own business — when a rowdy mob came charging in, demanding change — and demanding it now. All four of the group had on dark green hooded sweatshirts, very antagonistic attitudes, and Converse tennis shoes. If […]

Why is it still called EID?

El Dorado Irrigation District has 39,000 water customers, of which 400 are agricultural customers. These 400 customers use 16 percent of EID’s water but pay a mere 1.5 percent of EID’s overall rate revenues. Meanwhile, 47 percent of EID’s rate revenues are for sewer services and 1.8 percent more are for recycled water services. EID’s […]

We need to be reasonable in this school zone

EDITOR: Pleasant Valley Middle School is located on Green Valley Road in the middle of a 55 mph zone. There are signs indicating, “School Zone, 25 mph When Children Are Present.” The school itself is set back from the road with a parking lot and several buildings between the road and any playgrounds. If there […]
