EID’s bloated budget

EDITOR: In his proposed $47 million gross operating spending for 2013, EID General Manager Jim Abercrombie has included $28.1 million of salaries and benefits for 221.5 employees … an average of $127,000 per employee. Abercrombie wants EID average salaries to climb to $78,000 and employee benefits, excluding paid time off, to average an “eye-popping” $49,000 […]

Cutting the fire budget cuts service

EDITOR: I’m a firefighter for another department in the greater Sacramento area, and am proud to make El Dorado Hills my home. I’m hoping that the insight I can provide might help some of my voters make a good decision on Election Day. Let me start by saying that the district that I work for […]

We need change on the fire board

I read the Fire Board incumbent’s comments. What I conclude is “trust me.”  As an observer of board and committee meetings, I can say the two gentlemen are good people.  hat’s not today’s issue. With their history of a decade of unlimited resources were they realistic? Have they demonstrated fiscal balance, reasonable employee benefits? The […]

Fire board fiscally prudent?

I read with dismay your front page article on Oct. 17 implying the present fire board has exercised sound fiscal management. This is absurd given the extravagant compensation EDH firefighters receive. Their annual salary, overtime and education incentives average about $135,000 to $140,000 in addition to fully paid health care and an attractive retirement plan. […]
