Coco 30-percent EID rate increase defeated

EDITOR:

The Coco 30-percent rate increase was defeated at the June 23 EID meeting, thank goodness. At least for now. But there’s no telling or trusting what Coco says and does.

Recently elected El Dorado Irrigation District Director Dale Coco has repeatedly and publicly chastised and criticized his own constituents, residential ratepayers, for not doing enough conservation (even though the numbers say residential ratepayers are conserving). His favorite special interest friends are not.

Coco has been threatening to punish people, his constituents, with a 30-percent rate increase and has been pushing and promoting it in EID meetings. One time, he voted against his own rate increase after realizing there weren’t enough loopholes in it for his special interest friends. He immediately and personally sponsored the rate increase again, moving and voting to have it put right back on the agenda.

To Coco’s chagrin, his motion was defeated and blocked by Directors Day, Prada and George at the June 23 meeting. Enough was enough!

However, Coco has shown his true colors. He promised in his campaign to freeze and stop rate increases, yet he already voted yes to increase rates in 2014 (while Directors Day and Prada voted no) and kept pushing his 30-percent punitive rate increase.

We can breathe a little sigh of relief. Coco’s 30-percent rate increase has been defeated, for the moment. But Coco has shown he thinks nothing of breaking his campaign promises so there’s no telling or trusting what Coco says and does. Shame on you Director Coco!
