Despite protest of Director Alan Day and five ratepayer advocates, on Feb. 25 the board of the El Dorado Irrigation District passed three years of 7 percent annual wage hikes for its employees.
EID employees already receive wage and benefits averaging $127,000 annually. And EID further has the second worst unfunded pensions of all local government agencies in the greater Sacramento area as reported by the SacBee on March 18, 2012. Yet the district disingenuously released a misleading press release falsely claiming $3.1 million of savings from their three-year labor contract extension.
EID’s 38,000 ratepayers seeing their water rates increase 102 percent for 2010-2015 again have seen that their management and board can not be trusted.
