Editorial board does not care about EID ratepayers
The Mountain Democrat’s Oct. 23 endorsement of Dale Coco for director over Jake Flesher is a slap in the face to EID ratepayers. The local Placerville paper chose to endorse a candidate whose campaign is richly financed by developers, and special interests.
The EIDBoard of Directors is supposed to represent the ratepayers and direct EID to produce the best quality water and sewer services for the best price, always keeping in mind ratepayers.
The local paper should be a beacon pointing the way to what is good for the public at large, not what is only good for developers, the El Dorado County Chamber, the unions or any special interest group.
When candidates take huge amounts of money from special interests, implicit is that these groups have something material to gain from the election of their candidate. The majority of contributions Dale Coco has received year to date, $14, 556 is from the El Dorado Farmers, Businesses and Home Builders for Responsible Water Policy PAC. Who is this PAC? Well, it is made up of Parker Development (the developer of Serrano) and the El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce PAC. Recently developers have enjoyed reduced hook up fees at the expense of residential ratepayers.
That is why I and many other residential ratepayers are supporting Jake Flesher for EID director, Division 4. Jake is running to represent us, the ratepayers.
