Off-beat sports need support
Surprisingly, there are sports out there that are more exciting to watch than the common ones.
Let’s take rugby, basketball, soccer and wrestling, and put it in a pool. Doesn’t that sound fun to watch?
I think Oak Ridge needs to pay less attention to mainstream sports like football and basketball. Our schools would have a lot more spirit if we supported all of our sports equally. It’s a lot of fun seeing all of our programs doing well.
Now, can you tell me when the next football game is? Of course you can. But, how about our next water polo game? Or wrestling match? Lacrosse game? Why can’t their games be as equally advertised? (Or endorsed for that matter. Oak Ridge water polo has to pay extra so we can actually function as a sport.)
I just want the off-beat sports to be recognized as the mainstream because they are just as fun to watch.
