Recognize the facts

By From page A5 | July 09, 2014

Who among us will be the Sancho Panza who will politely inform the quixotic EID Director Greg Prada that those Small Farms and their water rates metaphorically are windmills, not a foul brood of giants to be engaged in righteous battle? It won’t be me. Directors Prada and Day hold the distinction of being the only people who have ever refused to communicate with me in my entire 70 years of life. That tends to support evidence of not recognizing the differences between facts, beliefs and opinions.

I’ve added some notes and graphics, plus the EID staff report, about the recent Small Farm rate criticism on sierrafoot.org. Another addition that’s not new but that I haven’t mentioned in local media is a personal survey of typical residential water costs in 404 California service areas, using late 2013 rates. The short summary for EID’s standing is:

(1)  EID water cost was 74.8 percent of the California average.
(2) 25.2 percent of all service areas had lower cost than EID; 74.5 percent had higher cost than EID.

Survey results are documented in one pdf file, with a prominent link on sierrafoot.org’s EID section-root page. Original documents for rates in other California service areas are saved in the tree of 287 subdirectories in the California_water_rates_by_agency directory tree of the Reference Library section. The Reference Library itself has been reorganized and surfaced with a visible link on the EID section root page.

If Director Prada or anyone else wants to again unjustly accuse me of incompetence or ineptness, please contact me first and review data from the source documents. In science and engineering, peer review is a mutually supportive process for all who participate and it works well when all participants exercise mutual respect.

Such self-righteousness, Paulie! Are you always so humble?
