Cool down at the Senior Center
I hope all of you are enjoying our great summer weather that we have waited so long for. I volunteer for the El Dorado Hills Senior Nutrition lunch program at the Senior Center and would like to see more of you come and enjoy the delicious lunch. We have been open five years and serve lunch Monday through Friday, plus we have many activities. We have a nice cool building, so come and visit us and I will give you a tour of the facility. Have lunch for $3 for seniors older than 60, stay and play Bingo (Mondays & Thursdays) and that’s a lot of fun. We show free movies the first and third Monday of the month (free popcorn!). Stop by for an activity schedule.

First Friday Fun
The first Friday of each month will include extra fun during Senior Nutrition lunch.  Join us on Aug. 5 for treats and trivia!

Day trip to Lake Tahoe
Join us as we sit back, relax and enjoy the trip to Tahoe on our chartered bus on Sunday, Aug. 21. You will be dropped at Harvey’s casino to spend the day “playing.” The trip departs from El Dorado Hills at 9:15 a.m. and returns at 7 p.m. The fee is $37 and includes a $20 slot voucher and a $7 lunch voucher. Call the CSD Registration Office to sign up at (916) 933-6624.

Evening field trip to the Community Observatory
On Tuesday, Aug. 23we will be carpooling from the Senior Center at 7:15 p.m. up to the Placerville Community Observatory. We will enjoy a tour and learn about the two large telescopes on site.

Senior Nutrition lunches
Delicious and nutritional lunches are served weekdays at noon, at the El Dorado Hills Senior Center, 990 Lassen Lane. For seniors 60 and older the suggested donation is $3, all others $5. The lunches are fresh and tasty and provide a balanced meal, in addition to an opportunity for seniors to socialize and make new friends. Senior Center activities are scheduled daily before and after lunch.

Senior Center programs
The Senior Center offers so many activities, we really have something for everyone! In August we will offer: Get to Know Your Digital Camera; a guest speaker on Trusts, Wills and powers of Attorney; Learn to make pot Stickers; art classes, Acrylic painting and Mixed-media Art; Ukulele Lessons; Gaining Better Balance Workshop; Astronomy guest speaker on Black Holes; and a guest speaker discussing Communicating Strategies with Cognitively Impaired Adults. Call the Senior Center for details and to sign up at (916) 358-3575.
