Oktoberfest is right around the corner
Our next special event is the Oktoberfest and will be held on Friday, Oct. 14, sponsored by the El Dorado Senior Support Council and the Placerville Nutrition Lunch Program.  It will be held in the El Dorado Hills Community Services District gym on Harvard Way. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., entertainment is at 11 and lunch is served at noon. The lunch is delicious, served with the help of our friendly local firefighter. We appreciate all they do for us! The suggested donation is $3 for seniors 60 and older, and all others pay $5. Call the Senior Center (916-358-3575) no later than Oct. 10 to make your reservation.

New! First Friday Fun
The first Friday of each month will include extra fun during Senior Nutrition Lunch.  Join us on Oct. 7 for Crazy Hat Day!

Day trip to Lake Tahoe
Join us as we sit back, relax and enjoy the trip to Tahoe on our chartered bus on Sunday, Nov. 6. You will be dropped at Harvey’s casino to spend the day “playing.” The trip departs from El Dorado Hills at 9:15 a.m and returns at 7 p.m. The fee is $37 and includes a $20 slot voucher and a $7 lunch voucher. Call the CSD Registration Office to sign up at (916) 933-6624.

Senior Nutrition Lunches
Delicious and nutritious lunches are served weekdays at noon at the El Dorado Hills Senior Center, 990 Lassen Lane. For seniors 60 and older the suggested donation is $3, all others $5. This is a great place to have lunch, meet new people and visit with friends.

Senior Center programs
We have lots going on in October at the El Dorado Hills Senior Center. October programs include: Three art classes: Watercolors, Choose Your Painting Medium and Drawing; Daytime Solar Viewing (look through a special telescope at the sun); the French Connection French Club; Ukulele and Guitar Lessons; four new cooking classes: Thai, Indian and Italian and Potstickers too!; a Halloween Party on Oct. 31; and special guest speakers: “All Aboard! Local Railroad History”; Bob Billingsley’s “Take Charge of Your Life”; and nutrition coach Percy McManus’ “Staying Healthy After 50.” Call the Senior Center for class details and to sign up at (916) 358-3575.

September birthdays
Connie Backers, Joanne Keller, Melda Eide, Greta Fuz, Cathy Wong, Ursula Smith, Mary Ann Bolling, Lissie Aschoff, and Ruth Kert all had birthdays in the month of September. Happy birthday to all!
