Christmas party and banana splits
Our annual Christmas party will be held on Friday, Dec. 7, at the El Dorado Hills Community Services District gym on Harvard Way. It is sponsored by the El Dorado Hills Senior Support Council, the CSD and the Senior Nutrition Lunch program. Doors open at 10:30 a.m, entertainment starts at 11 and lunch will be served at noon. Suggested donation for lunch is $3 for seniors age 60 and older and all others $5. Our El Dorado Hills Fire Department will be there to serve and clean up and we thank them very much. Good news! At the party we are serving banana splits again thanks to the Rotary Club of El Dorado Hills who provide and serve the delicious ice cream treats. Call the Senior Center today at (916) 358-3575 to make your reservations for the great day.

Veterans Tribute
Our annual Veterans Tribute program will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9. We will have a special guest speaker, Commander Ted Robinson, U.S. Navy Retired, who was one of the 12 men on the boat who rescued JFK’s Pt-109 boat after it was rammed by a Japanese destroyer. Robinson is an author of the book ‘Water in my Veins: The Pauper Who Helped Save a President.” You won’t want to miss his fascinating stories. Veterans can bring their memorabilia and share stories if they would like. Immediately before Senior Nutrition lunch, the El Dorado Hills Fire Department Color Guard will present colors in honor of our veterans.

Senior Nutrition lunches
Delicious and nutritious lunches are served weekdays at noon, at the El Dorado Hills Senior Center, 990 Lassen Lane. For seniors 60 and older the suggested donation is $3, all others $5. This is a great place to have lunch, meet new people and visit with friends.

Coming in November
Here are classes that we have coming up in November: Get to Know Your Digital Camera, Ukulele Lessons and a Chocolate Truffle Making workshop (just in time for holiday gift giving!). Our guest speakers for November include Kathy Zastrow from Canine Companions for Independence and a talk titled “Veteran’s Benefits 101″ with El Dorado County’s Veteran’s Department staff. Call the Senior Center for dates, details and registration information at (916) 358-3575.
