Cinco de Mayo luncheon
Another big party was a great success! The event was sponsored by the El Dorado Hills Senior Council and the County’s Senior Nutrition Lunch Program. The strolling mariachi band was very festive and many nice prizes were given away. Local merchants who donated gift cards included: Raley’s, Nugget, Safeway and Big O Tires. We thank you! The Senior Support Council also provided many nice prizes. Thanks to our local fire department for doing such a great job serving and cleaning up. We couldn’t do these parties without their unending support; it’s a big job to serve 175 lunches! It also takes many senior volunteers to gather donations, set-up and decorate the dining area, check in guests, work in the kitchen, make coffee, hand out prizes and, for this event, work the nacho bars. Muchas gracias!

New! First Friday fun
The first Friday of each month will include extra fun during Senior Nutrition Lunch.  Join us on June 3 for “Crazy Hat Day.” Wear a hat, the crazier the better, and join us. A limited number of “loaner” hats will be available, come early! In July we will celebrate with a patriotic ice cream social.

Day trip to Lake Tahoe
Join us as we sit back, relax and enjoy the trip to Tahoe on our chartered bus on Sunday, June 26. You will be dropped at Harvey’s casino to spend the day “playing.” The trip departs from El Dorado Hills at 9:15 a.m. and returns at 7 p.m. The fee is $37 and includes a $20 slot voucher and a $7 lunch voucher. Call the CSD Registration Office to sign up at (916) 933-6624.

Senior lunches
Delicious and nutritional lunches are served weekdays at noon, at the El Dorado Hills Senior Center (990 Lassen Lane). For seniors 60 and over the suggested donation is $3, all others $5.  The lunches are fresh and tasty and provide a balanced meal, in addition to an opportunity for Senior’s to socialize and make new friends. Senior Center activities are scheduled daily before and after lunch.

Upcoming programs
By now you have received the CSD’s Summer Activity Brochure which lists the upcoming programs coming to the Senior Center. For June we have many programs including: Get to Know YOUR Digital Camera Workshop; Three Seconds to Better Health … Breathing 101; Ukulele Lessons; Guitar Lessons; Nutrition Presentation, How Emotions Affect Your Health; Kitties ‘n Puppies ‘n Fun!, Oh My … (learn how you can become a foster home to temporarily house pets from the Animal Shelter); Memoir Writing; Italian Language; Watercolors; Learn to Make Potstickers; Free Lunch & Learn, Vitalistic Living; Who ‘Ya Gonna Call? … learn about local “haunts” and more! Call the Senior Center for details and to sign up at (916) 358-3575.

May birthdays
It’s hard to believe that our El Dorado Hills Senior Center has been open for five years! On June 30 we will be celebrating our fifth “birthday” here at the Senior Center. How time flies! In May our following friends celebrated birthdays: Mary Hewitt, Roy Peterson, Werner Luscher, Dick Rein and Bud Brousseau.
