Senior News: March 2014

Spring Fling luncheon
Our next big party, a Spring Fling party, will be held on May 9 in the El Dorado Hills Community Services District gym on Harvard Way. It is sponsored by the CSD, the Senior Council and the Senior Nutrition lunch program from Placerville. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., live entertainment starts at 11 a.m. and lunch is served at noon. Suggested donation for lunch is $3 for seniors age 60 and older and all others pay $5. Our local El Dorado Hills Fire Department staff will serve lunch and help clean up, and we appreciate everything they do for us! After lunch a drawing will be held and many great prizes will be given away. Make your reservations soon, as seating is limited. Call the Senior Center at (916) 358-3575 to make your reservation.

Fun Bingo
Join us on Mondays and Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. for our Fun Bingo program. You can buy two bingo cards for $3 (and additional cards for $1). Winners receive $5 gift cards from Raley’s and Nugget who generously support this program. It is Bingo and it is fun!

Senior Nutrition lunches
Delicious and nutritious lunches are served weekdays at noon, at the El Dorado Hills Senior Center, 990 Lassen Lane. For seniors 60 and older the suggested donation is $3, all others $5. This is a great place to have lunch, meet new people and visit with friends. Reservations are not necessary.

April movies
The Senior Center will show two Academy Award-winning movies in April. “Blue Jasmine” will be shown on April 7 and “Gravity” on April 21. Join us! Reservations are not required.

The birds … but not the bees
El Dorado County’s Sierra Wildlife Rescue volunteers will be here on Friday, April 11, to speak about local wildlife. Learn how to get along with wildlife in your backyard and see live birds of prey up close and personal (owls, falcons, etc.) Reservations are necessary.

April classes and guest speakers
Sign up for guitar lessons, Photography: Taking “People” Pictures and ukulele lessons. Call for more information.

Don’t miss Ageless Joy is Possible with Bob Billingsley, April 1; Life is What we Make It, April 8; What’s on YOUR Bucket List?, April 17; The History of Victorian Floral Bouquets, April 22; Disaster Preparedness 101, April 29.

New activity book
