Senior News: November 2013

Christmas party … plus banana splits
Make your reservations soon while there is plenty of seating. Sponsored by the El Dorado Hills Senior Council, the El Dorado Hills Community Services District and the Senior Nutrition lunch program, this annual Christmas party will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, at the EDHCSD gym on Harvard Way. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., entertainment by Oak Ridge High School Dance Team, Choir and Jazz Band begins at 11 a.m. and lunch is served at noon. The suggested donation for lunch is $3 for seniors age 60 and older and others are $5. Our local El Dorado Hills firefighters will be there to serve and help clean up and we thank all of you. Best news yet! After lunch we are serving those great banana splits donated by the El Dorado Hills Rotary Club; club members provide and serve these treats. We thank our Rotary supporters! Make your reservations for this great party by calling (916) 358-3575. Seating is limited.

Senior Nutrition lunches
Delicious and nutritious lunches are served weekdays at noon, at the El Dorado Hills Senior Center, 990 Lassen Lane. For seniors 60 and older the suggested donation is $3, all others $5. This is a great place to have lunch, meet new people and visit with friends. Reservations are not necessary.

A very special “Thank You”
The El Dorado Hills Senior Center’s annual veterans tribute was extra special this year thanks to the dedicated staff at El Dorado Hills Fire Department. The Color Guard presentation in honor of our veterans was very moving. For the first time, we had the Pipe and Drum Band perform. The music was beautiful and well-appreciated by all in attendance. Thank you El Dorado Hills Fire, again!

Coming in December
For December, the El Dorado Hills Senior Center is offering the following: The Sensational Singers in concert on Dec. 3; Macro/Close-up Photography Class on Dec. 5; and a special holiday-related guest speaker doing a presentation on “Antique Toys of Days Gone By” on Dec. 17. Join us for our Christmas sing-a-long on Monday, Dec. 23, right after lunch. Call the Senior Center for details, reservations and to sign up for programs at (916) 358-3575.

The Senior Center will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 24, Wednesday, Dec. 25, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014.
