Art show displays diversity of fiber

The Sacramento Fine Arts Center hosts the second annual Focus on Fiber, a fiber arts show, May 28 through June 22.

Fiber is a common material that many artists use in exceptional ways. The exhibit will showcase artwork using all types of fiber medium — basketry, beading, crochet, dyeing fabric, felting, hooking, knitting, knotting, lace making, painting or printing on fabric, quilting, spinning, sewing, stitching, thread, tapestry, yarn, costuming, and any artwork related to these. No crafts, kits or production work will be shown.

The Sacramento Fine Arts Center is located at 5330B Gibbons Drive, Carmichael. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. A gala reception featuring awards, music and refreshments will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday June 1.
