Vocal audition: Prepare a short song (approximately 16 bars) of your choice that highlights your vocal range. Select a song in the rock-and-roll/Broadway style of “Spring Awakening.” You are welcome to sing a selection from the show if you’d like. Bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided.
Dance audition: You will be asked to participate in a dance audition. No preparation is necessary. However, auditioners must wear loose fitting attire and either ballet or jazz dance shoes. Be warmed up and stretched out, ready to move at the time of the appointment. No bare feet or socks will be permitted.
Monologue audition: Auditioners must prepare a monologue that is no more than 60-seconds-long from any play. No teleplays, screenplays or passages from novels or song lyrics. Also, please no original writing. This monologue should best portray the actor’s strengths and can be of any genre. This monologue must be memorized.
Headshot and résumé: It is requested, but not required, that auditioners bring a full-sized 8×10 photo-headshot and résumé outlining training and performing experience for acting, dancing and singing.
Callbacks: Auditioners who are called back will also be asked to audition by way of cold readings from the text. Therefore, it is recommended that auditioners be familiar with the story of “Spring Awakening” before auditioning. Call-backs are expected to run until approximately 10 p.m.
Rehearsal dates: Approximate dates and times are Feb. 3 through April 9, evenings and some weekend afternoons. Minor conflicts with these dates will be considered permissible. Those with significant conflicts with these dates should not audition.
