Big Idea Theatre presents 24-hour festival

Big Idea Theatre is dedicated to bringing new and exciting theatrical experiences to the community, and its next event will carry on this tradition.

The 24-Hour Theatre Festival will test the talents of many of your local theater favorites as they maneuver through three phases of the creative process. Come and watch four newborn plays take their first breaths at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 12.

Phase 1 of the festival begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 11, when four writers assemble and are given a theme, five randomly selected props and a 12-hour deadline to create a brand new 15 to 20 minute script.

Phase 2 begins at 8 the next morning when the writers are sent to bed and the directors and actors take over. They have the next 12 hours to completely rehearse, stage, memorize and prepare for an audience.

Phase 3 begins exactly 24 hours after the festival kicked off, with the curtain going up (ready or not!) on the new plays.

Tickets are $10. Big Idea Theatre is located at 1616 Del Paso Blvd. in Sacramento. For tickets and more information call (916) 960-3036 or visit bigideatheatre.com.
