Bring your treasures to Antique Evaluation Day
On Saturday, Sept. 10, antiques enthusiasts are invited to bring family treasures and garage sale finds for informal evaluation and identification during the 14th annual Antique Evaluation Day on Sutter Street in Folsom.
An impressive team of volunteer appraisers, covering a wide range of specialities, will offer collectors a unique opportunity to learn more about their antiques and collectibles. Appraisers will draw on years of experience in providing an estimate of current market value as well as a verbal identification and evaluation of pieces.
This year’s team of volunteer appraisers includes: Jim Alkons — fine paintings, watercolors and art on paper; Mark Baker — stamps, photos, stock certificates, letters, historical documents, postcards and old paper items; Gary Cox — paintings, prints, photographs, furniture, postcards, historical documents and political items; Roberty Flaherty — firearms, military memorabilia and U.S. coins; Jack Kohn — sports memorabilia and sports cards; Dawn Licker — quilts; Oscal Lugo — fine jewelry and heirloom jewelry; Nick Nicholson — stringed musical instruments; Roman Oleynik —clocks, pocket watches, watches and jewelry; Douglas e. Petok — fine jewelry, diamonds and genuine gems, gold and platinum jewelry; Bill Sidney — band instruments; and Greg Tracy — military memorabilia and weapons.
There is no limit on the number of items that may be presented for evaluation. Photographs with dimensions of oversized items may be submitted for evaluation. experienced museum volunteers ensure that collectors are promptly helped.
Parking is free. Event hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10. Cost of evaluation is a donation of $8 per item of $35 for five items.
All proceeds from this fundraiser go to support programs of the museum. The Folsom History Museum is located at 823 Sutter St., Folsom. Event sponsors are Folsom Chamber of Commerce, Folsom Lake Bank, The Rotary Club of Folsom and Folsom Rotary Annes.
