Circus theater is ‘Important Business’
Vespertine Circus will play Sacramento for one weekend only in January at the California Stage Theater.
The company will premiere a newly created work entitled “Important Business.” A cast of six clowns set a new bar for circus theatre in their delightfully surreal, entirely unexpected office comedy with enough silliness to entertain audiences of all ages. Jam packed with acrobatics, juggling, clowning, aerial-artistry, and dance, this is one show you don’t want to miss.
“’Important Business’ is, first and foremost, about perception. In this show the pageantry of circus is stripped away, revealing our all too human characters and the magical qualities in everyday things,” Circus Director Bunny Zlotnik said. “The Vespertine Circus hopes to change the way you think about offices, rubber-band-balls, sorting-paper, board meetings and, of course, one another.”
“Important Business” stars multidisciplinary circus veterans Brian Feraru, Bunny Zlotnik, Sam Luckey, Eli Cherweznik, Keely Beyries and Danielle Funkadelica.
Circus arts and street theatre can embrace a variety of disciplines and techniques including acrobatics, clowning, trapeze, silks, contortion, stilts, juggling, music, spectacle, dance, physical theatre and comedy.
“Important Business” will run for one weekend only at the California Stage Theater in Midtown Sacramento in the R25 Arts Complex, 2509 R St., on Jan. 25, 26 & 27. The show begins at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Free parking is available.
