‘Evil Dead the Musical’ back at Sutter Street

“It’s an old tale. You’ve probably heard it a hundred times. Boy and his friends go on a weeklong vacation in the woods. Three friends turn into Candarian demons. One friend is killed by a forest of evil trees. Two demons are killed by their boyfriends, respectively, while one stays in the cellar trying to kill everything in sight. Like I said, pretty standard stuff.” – Ash

“Evil Dead the Musical” is returning for its third season at Sutter Street Theatre.

This hilarious live stage show takes all the elements of the cult classic horror films “Evil Dead 1,” “Evil Dead 2″ and “Army of Darkness” then combines them to make one of the craziest theatrical experiences of all time. The musical’s book and lyrics are by George Reinblatt with music by Frank Cipolla, Christopher Bond, Melissa Morris and George Reinblatt. Sutter Street’s production is directed by Elio Gutierrez with musical direction by Connie Mockenhaupt and choreography by Jacob Montoya.

The show is recommended for mature audiences.

“Evil Dead” opens at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, and continues on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. through Nov. 2. There is a special Halloween performance at 8 p.m. In past seasons the theater has sold out all shows so get tickets early, especially if you want to be in the “Splatter Zone.”

For tickets go online to SutterStreetTheatre.com or call (916) 353-1001. Sutter Stree Theatre is located at 717 Sutter St. in downtown historic Folsom.
