Do you know Waldo? With his striped shirt, signature cap and black-rimmed specs, he has been a beloved figure in children’s literature since 1987. Children love to spot him hidden in the detailed scenes illustrating the “Where’s Waldo?” books. This July, children can search for the famous character at 25 local businesses throughout the community.
Waldo figures will be hidden in El Dorado Hills business establishments including Bistro 33, Holiday Inn Express, Mercedes-Benz of El Dorado Hills, Selland’s Restaurant-Café, Town Center Bike & Tri Shop and more. Pick up a Find Waldo Local in El Dorado Hills passport with the names of all the participating sites at Face in a Book, 4359 Town Center Blvd., Suite 113, in El Dorado Hills Town Center or at the businesses mentioned above.
Visit the local businesses and get your passport stamped or signed for each Waldo you spot. The first 100 participants to get their passports stamped or signed at 10 or more sites can collect a prize at Face in a Book. Those who have found Waldo at 20 or more businesses will be placed in a drawing for the grand prize: a six-volume set of “Where’s Waldo?” books.
There are now more than 58 million “Where’s Waldo?” books in print, translated into 18 languages. Candlewick Press, the American Booksellers Association and 265 independent bookstores across the country (including El Dorado Hills’ Face in a Book) are delighted to celebrate Waldo’s longevity and popularity with this Waldo-style hide-and-seek fun. The hunt lasts for the entire month of July.
