Chautauqua Playhouse announces the first show of its 36th season. The new comedy “The Fox on the Fairway” opens on Aug. 17 and will run at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays through Sept. 23.
Ken Ludwig’s newest farce is a charming, screwball comedy about love, life and man’s eternal love affair with … golf. Two rival country clubs, Quail Valley and Crouching Squirrel, prepare for their annual Inter-Club Golf Tournament. With a sizeable wager at stake, the contest plays out amidst three love affairs, a disappearing diamond, ghastly golf sweaters, mistaken identities, emotional mulligans, slamming doors and rapid-fire chip shots!
The production is directed by Paul Fearn and features Walt Thompson, Julie Bock, Bob Nannini, Kevin Foster, Anne-Marie Trout, and Alicia Thayer. Set design is by Rodger Hoopman with costumes by Theresa Vann and lighting design by Don Myers.
All performances will be held at the Chautauqua Playhouse, 5325 Engle Road in the La Sierra Community Center in Carmichael. Admission is $19 general and $17 students, seniors and SARTA members.
Information and tickets are available through the Chautauqua Playhouse website, cplayhouse.org/tickets, or call the box office at (916) 489-7529, during business hours.
