Have a pint or two at the Bell Tower Brewfest

PLACERVILLE — Drink up (responsibly) at this year’s Bell Tower Brewfest — Saturday, June 28, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The festival will close Historic Main Street in Placerville from Sacramento Street to Clay Street. More than 45 craft breweries will pour samples inside merchant locations, on the street, and in the Mooney parking lot near Tortilla Flats. And as always, the Bell Tower will be dressed up as a beer stein to honor the occasion.

For those wishing to sample the beers, tickets are available for $30 each in advance or $35 at the door (subject to availability) in Placerville at River City Bank, The Wine Smith, Cuppa Coffee & More and Powell’s Steamer Co & Pub. Purchase tickets online at placervilledowntown.com. Tickets are limited and sell out each year, so be sure to get the beer sampling tickets early (sorry, no refunds). For designated drivers, non-drinkers and minors who want to enjoy the music and late night shopping and dining, there is no ticket required. Come enjoy a great summer evening on Main Street. For Facebook fans, see more information, including posts by the breweries, on our Placerville Bell Tower Brewfest Facebook page.

For some “hot music” to go along with the cold brews, this event will feature three great bands at the festival.

Achilles Wheel, playing at The Bell Tower, is a high energy roots and world music/rock and roll band from Northern California, featuring award-winning songwriting played on numerous stringed instruments and more drums than you can shake a stick at. In the wake of the band’s breakout performance at the 2012 Kate Wolf Music Festival, the musicians have been burning up stages all across California.

Shauna Lea & The Hired Guns, playing near Main Street Music, is led by Shauna Lea, a talented country singer who calls the foothills her home. She has performed for large audiences all over Northern California at a variety of venues including barrel races, rodeos, and sprint car races, as well as at many Sacramento and surrounding area clubs. She gets the audience dancing and can also bring it down for a beautiful ballad with a great range of melodic sounds.

The Ice House Blues Band, playing in the lot near Tortilla Flats, is made up of talented musicians from the Sierra Foothills, featuring the amazing vocals of Ranell Carpenter. This band plays scorching blues and R & B and are a popular group that plays at many local clubs and venues.

This is a fun event that brings together some terrific craft breweries (visit placervilledowntown.com for a complete listing of all 45 breweries), music and unique shopping and dining opportunities in one convenient and historic setting in the heart of El Dorado County. This event is sponsored by the Placerville Downtown Association, Sierra Nevada Brewing, The Mountain Democrat and Powell’s Steamer Co. & Pub.
