“Holiday in the Hills,” a holiday tradition for the region, will close its sixth annual production with weekday performances through Friday, Dec. 23, At Sutter Street Theatre.

Friday’s performance is at 8 p.m. with the other weekday performances at 7 p.m.  “Holiday in the Hills” is a holiday celebration set in Fleckenstein’s Candy Store in the 1880s (the actual current location of Sutter Street Theatre). The characters all did exist in or around the Folsom area in the late 1800s. The stories and music range from the traditional to contemporary. The production has one intent — to have you leave the theatre in the holiday spirit.  If you don’t you get your money back.

The Family Series features “The Magic Toyshop” which runs weekdays at 1 p.m. and a special Christmas Eve performance at 1 p.m. Performances continue Dec. 27-30 at 1 p.m. “The Magic Toyshop” is a charming and touching story that all ages will enjoy.  Come to this magic place where dolls come to life, cold hearts are melted and surprises abound.

On New Year’s Eve Sutter Street Theatre will close the year by opening its new season with a New Year’s Eve party featuring a preview performance of “The Musical of Musicals (The Musical),” a hilarious look at Broadway Musicals from Rogers and Hammerstein to Jerry Herman and Stephen Sondheim and more. All of this for only $35 — the show, a party afterward with the cast, party favors, champagne/apple cider, lots of food and a ton of fun as Sutter Street Theatre rings in the New Year at midnight.
