El Dorado Hills rock band JAXX recently took first place in this year’s 2011 Sacramento Jammies awards.

The competition included many high-school-age bands from all over the Sacramento area. The competiton was fierce and began with the submission of a two-song CD (all original material) as a first-round acceptance followed by several rounds of “battle of the bands” competition. The culmination was determinded by a final “battle” on May 13 at the Crest Theater, downtown Sacramento, in front of an audience of more than 750 people.

JAXX is Alan Petterle on lead guitar, Kyle Maxwell on bass, Nikkos Savas on lead guitar and Jack Petterle on drums. JAXX has been together for about a year and has performed in many clubs such as the Blacksheep, The Boardwalk, Jokers Roadhouse and at several wineries. JAXX’ classic rock and edgy blues performances includes mostly original material along with a fog and laser light show.

JAXX will be an opening act on June 25 for Led Zeppagain (a national Led Zepplin cover band) at the Ace of Spades in downtown Sacramento.
