‘Little Mermaid’ makes a splash

In a magical kingdom fathoms below, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, and convince Prince Eric that she’s the girl with the enchanting voice.

Sutter Street Theatre presents Disney’s “The Little Mermaid, Jr.” with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and book by Doug Wright. Adapted from Disney’s 2008 Broadway production it features the hit songs “Part of Your World,” “She’s in Love” and the Oscar-winning “Under the Sea.”

The Folsom theater’s production is directed and choreographed by Connie Mockenhaupt with musical direction by Sharon Welling.

“The Little Mermaid, Jr.” opens at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 1,and continues at 1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through Sunday, July 7.  Tickets are $17 general, $15 seniors and $13 children 12 and younger.
