STUDENT MUSICIANS Stephen Bailey, left, trumpet, and junior Jacob Wellman, bassoon, were accepted to the All-State (Fresno) and National Honor Bands (Indianapolis) this year. More than 1,500 students auditioned for a spot in one of the orchestras. Both Bailey and Wellman made the top-caliber wind symphony Feb. 19 in Fresno, playing under the direction of University of Texas-Austin Band Director Jerry Junkin. Both head to Indianapolis March 16. Additionally, Wellman has won the Sacramento Valley Symphonic Band Association’s 2011 Youth Artist Award.
