Poetry Out Loud judges needed

The El Dorado Arts Council is gearing up for its fifth year of Poetry Out Loud, a nationwide poetry recitation competition for high school students. Local high school competitions will be held in January 2014, with the county competition to be held on the evening of Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at the Imagination Theater.

The Arts Council is currently recruiting judges for the El Dorado County high school contests. People with a love of literature and an interest in communicating who love to our county’s young people are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Judges training sessions will be held at ArtSpace, 459 Main St. in Placerville, on the following dates and times:

• 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10

• 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17

• 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014
