American Visions Art Gallery in Folsom will host internationally acclaimed artist Leonard Filgate and his wife author Susan Yost Filgate the creators of the much-loved children’s series Rip Squeak & Friends.

The Rip Squeak series of paintings and books consist of an adventurous mouse Rip Squeak, his sister Jesse and their unlikely friends Abbey the Cat and Euripides the frog. These characters have been brought to life with human like qualities that charm children and adults alike. Leonard Filgate’s richly detailed and highly imaginative paintings accompanied by Susan Yost-Filgate’s magical stories bring to life this wonderful world of fabulous friends whose acceptance of each others differences makes for heartwarming tales of adventure.

The event is Saturday, Dec 3, from 2 to 7 p.m. The artists will bring several original and limited edition pieces and autograph their highly successful Rip Squeak & Friends book series.

The gallery will provide storytelling at 2:15 and 2:45 and a children’s art workshop from 2:45 to 3:45. Tickets for the “fishing booth” can be purchased that day or prior to the event at American Visions Art Gallery at 705 Sutter St., Folsom, or by calling (916) 351-1623. Proceeds from the booth will go to local elementary schools in the area. Hot cider, lemonade and light appetizers will be served as well as wine tasting for the adults
