STC season features Crazy Horse, Romeo and Mr. Green
Sacramento Theatre Company is pleased to announce the 2013-14 season.
STC places priority on shows that are on the reading list for local schools, and shows that offer our students the opportunity to perform alongside our professional actors in age appropriate roles.
“Pride and Prejudice” Oct. 2-27, 2013
Based on Jane Austen’s novel, this classic romantic comedy explores love and marriage in the British society of the early 1800s.
“Crazy Horse and Custer” Nov. 6 through Dec. 15, 2013
A world premiere play by local writer Jon George. Speaking not just for his Plains Indians but for all Native Americans, Crazy Horse tells of what was forever lost for his people in a battle they won. George Armstrong Custer stands before his final foe and speaks for all those American values he represented and ultimately died to preserve.
“It’s a Wonderful Life The Musical” Nov. 27 through Dec. 22, 2013
Based on the beloved 1946 film, this musical follows the story of George Bailey’s life from his childhood dreams to midlife disappointments and beyond. With help from a guardian angel, we take a journey to discover whether his life has mattered at all.
“Closer Than Ever” Jan. 8 through Feb. 16, 2014
An intimate musical about love, friendship, security, happiness — and holding on to those essentials in a modern world that pulls us in a hundred directions.
“Romeo and Juliet” Feb. 26 through March 23, 2014
William Shakespeare’s timeless romantic tragedy of two young star-crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their feuding families.

“A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” April 23 through May 18, 2014
An homage to the ancient Greek and Roman plays of Aristophanes and Plautus, this Stephen Sondheim musical is one of the funniest farces ever written.
