The Falcon’s Eye Theatre at Folsom Lake College announces its spring 2012 production of Carlo Gozzi’s hilarious comic fable “The King Stag,” adapted by Shelley Berc and Andrei Belgrader. King Stag is the second production in the fifth full season of the Falcon’s Eye Theatre.
Carlo Gozzi’s madcap tale of mirth and woe comes to life in the forest of King Deramo and the faithful Angela who loves him. In this magical fantasy, men become creatures and creatures become men. Deceit, lies, magic, murder, betrayal, and loyalty all share the stage in this charming pursuit of true love. Gozzi’s 18th-century fairy tale, performed by the Falcon’s Eye in the style of commedia dell’arte under the direction of discipline expert Jamie Van Camp, still captivates audiences with its humor, colorful, larger-than-life characters, and intricately entangled plot.
The King Stag opens on Friday, April 27, and will continue through Sunday, May 13. Below is performance time and price information:
- Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm; $15 general admission, $10 students and seniors
- Sunday afternoons at 2pm; $15 general admission, $10 students and seniors.
- There are two bargain-priced performances on Saturday, May 5 at 2pm and Thursday, May 10 at 8pm.
