Venture into the unknown in ‘King of Shadows’
Big Idea Theatre’s 2011 season continues with the Sacramento premiere of “King of Shadows” by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
When a runaway living on the streets of San Francisco meets a well-intentioned graduate student who is researching the homeless, he tells her there is a mythical world beneath our world, ruled by the King of Shadows. He claims the terrifying, demon-like creature is hunting him. Could the boy somehow… possibly… be telling the truth?
This electrifying urban thriller is directed by Benjamin T. Ismail. The cast includes Big Idea newcomer Andrew Perez and Big Idea Company actor Brian Harrower along with the talents of Gina Williams and Josephine Longo. Harrower, Williams, and Longo were most recently seen in Big Idea’s production of “Measure for Measure.”
Ismail also designed the sound for this production and is joined by a crew that includes stage manager Laura Lee White, set and lighting designer Brian Harrower, scenic artist Vince Natad and costume designer Kat Wolinski.
Performances of “King of Shadows” are at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (July 7, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22 & 23) and at 2:30 p.m. Sundays (July 10 & 17).
