Wine and dine at Feast at the Fort

Unique culinary experience includes dinner prepared by Sacramento’s top chefs

SACRAMENTO — To the delight of history enthusiasts and food and wine lovers throughout the region, Friends of Sutter’s Fort presents Feast at the Fort on Saturday evening, Sept. 20.

Continuing as part of the city-wide “Farm-to-Fork” effort, this is the fifth year for this signature event held at Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park.  Feast at the Fort guests will enjoy a delicious four-course, sit-down dinner prepared by Sacramento’s top chefs amid a beautiful evening setting inside the historic walls of Sutter’s Fort.

Each year, a different food-focused theme is chosen for the event.  In 2014, guests will delight in a menu of exciting and history-inspired recipes that showcase cheese as a focal point and also incorporate vibrant local ingredients.

When they first arrive, Feast at the Fort guests will be treated to scrumptious appetizers while enjoying local wine and beer tastings provided by Bogle Vineyards, Boeger Winery, Lava Cap Winery and New Helvetia Brewing Co. Guests will also have the unique opportunity to watch and interact with chefs as they prepare their culinary creations in period facilities such as outdoor fire pits or in the historic kitchens and on-site bakery.  The amazing dishes will be created by chefs from popular restaurants such as Hock Farm Craft & Provisions, Hook & Ladder Manufacturing Co., Red Rabbit and Ten22 Restaurant and served family style. To finish off the meal, guests will enjoy a delicious dessert created by Estelle’s Patisserie.

With an international flair representative of the types of music enjoyed by emigrants who first came to Sutter’s Fort, live acoustic music will entertain guests and set a lively and festive mood throughout the culinary experience and silent auction.  Each guest will receive a complimentary goodie bag that includes a special keepsake item at the close of the evening.

Feast at the Fort begins at 6:30 p.m. with dinner served at 7:30 p.m.  With limited tickets available, an early sell-out is expected. The ticket cost is $75 per person if purchased by Sept. 1 or $85 for tickets purchased Sept. 2 or later (if still available). Feast at the Fort”is a fundraising event for Friends of Sutter’s Fort, a 501 (C) (3) cooperating association that supports Sutter’s Fort State Historic Pak and is operated by California State Parks. The mission of Friends of Sutter’s Fort is to the support the interpretive and educational programs at Sutter’s Fort.
