Nothing tops a night in, snuggled under blanket by a roaring fire. Unless you’re chowing down on a hot, delicious pizza.

And where better to get your Italian pizza pie than the new Mountain Mike’s Pizza opening Dec. 9 in Cameron Park. El Dorado Hills Mountain Mike’s owners Sal and Sandi Viscuso decided to expand up the hill after two-and-a-half years in the pizza business. The El Dorado Hills location delivers a lot of pies to Cameron Park and many loyal customers travel down the hill for the restaurant experience so a second location on the corner of Cameron Park Drive and Green Valley Road “allows us to take care of the people up here,” according to Sandi.

So what is it about Mountain Mike’s Pizza that commands that kind of loyalty?

“Our signature is our pepperoni,” Sandi, 45, said. “There are over 100 slices on a large pizza and it’s crispy.”

“Pizza has always been one of my favorite foods (which makes sense) since I’m 100 percent Italian,” Sal, 44, added. “(Mountain Mike’s) pizza just tastes good.”

Living up to its monumental name, Mountain Mike’s menu includes impressive items like The Everest  — a classic combination of pepperoni, Italian sausage, salami, linguica, beef, mushrooms, black olives, bell peppers and onion — and the Mt. St. Helen’s pizza with spicy Louisiana style hot sausage and tangy green chilies. The restaurant also features a host of appetizers and a salad bar, along with a game room and big screen TVs.

In addition to hosting group parties and birthday celebrations, Mountain Mike’s lends its name to many worth causes. Organizations and groups pick a day and time, customers dine on delicious pizza and Mountain Mike’s donates 20 percent of their proceeds back to the fundraising organization, according to Sandi.

Sal and Sandi said they enjoy being part of the community and have made a lot of friends since opening their first Mountain Mike’s. Several customers-turned-friends have lent a hand at the new restaurant “for some free pizza and beer,” Sal said with a smile.

Mountain Mike’s Pizza is located at 2650 Cameron Park Drive, Suite 100, Cameron Park. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. For more information call (530) 676-9600.
