  • Letter To The Editor Policy: A letter submitted for publication in print or online must have the writer’s name, city of residdence and telephone number. Pseudonyms will no longer be used except at the discretion of the editor. Letters that are not longer than two pages typed and double-spaced or one page single-spaced, which is approximately 500 words, will be given preference. All letters may be shortened at the discretion of the editor. They will be used as space permits. No more than six names or businesses will be permitted in “thank you” letters, and no more than six may be listed as signers. Neither consumer complaints nor compliments will be printed. Letters deemed to be in poor taste or potentially libelous will be rejected. Form letters will also be rejected. Political letters endorsing or criticizing a candidate for office will run on Wednesdays only, and will be limited to one letter each, for and against the candidate. Letters discussing more than one candidate are less likely to be printed. Letters written by the candidate are discouraged and may not be printed if we feel the letters column is being abused by blatant self-promotion. Letters about ballot initiatives are only limited by the space available on Wednesdays.
