Biker dies on Latrobe

An El Dorado Hills motorcyclist died after a wreck on Latrobe Road mid-morning Saturday.

Chuong Van Pham, 42, riding a Honda Shadow motorcycle northbound on Latrobe, north of Sun Ridge Meadows, took a right curve too quickly and crossed into the opposing lane where he was struck by a southbound Ford Explorer piloted by Bryan Parker, 56, of El Dorado Hills, according to California Highway Patrol officer Dan Stark.

The impact caused the motorcyclist to leave the roadway, hit a tree and return into the path of the Explorer, which hit him a second time, Stark said. It is not yet known how fast both motorists were driving and the collision is still under investigation, he added.
