Updated: Bodies found in Folsom Lake

El Dorado County sheriff’s officials announced that searchers have found the bodies of all four men who went missing after a May 10 Folsom Lake boating accident.

The deceased were identified as Toby Strauch, 54; Gerald Jacobs, 53; and James Andrew Strauch, 47; and Jon Smith, 48.James Andrew Strauch was found on May 16, Jacobs and Toby Strauch were recovered May 17 and Smith was found May 19.

All four men were from the Sacramento area. Their causes of death were cervical vertebral fracture (James, Toby and Smith) and aortic transection due to blunt force trauma to the chest (Jacobs).

Around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, California State Parks received a report regarding a capsized boat on Folsom Lake, according to a press release. Within minutes, park rangers arrived and located the boat, described as a 35-to-40-foot speed boat.

El Dorado County and Placer County sheriff’s departments, Sacramento County DART Team and the CHP teamed up in the search effort.
