Boy dies after pellet gun shooting

An El Dorado Hills boy died after a friend shot him with a pellet gun while playing at a home on Waterman Court late Tuesday afternoon, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department.

The ages of the two boys involved were not available, but preliminary information indicated the boy who shot his friend may be 12 years old.

The incident occurred about 4:30 p.m. at the home of the shooter, according to Sheriff’s Department officials. The shooting victim apparently ran back to his own residence and told family members what had happened, then collapsed. Family members administered first aid and medics responded to the scene. The wounded boy was taken to Mercy Folsom for treatment, but was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the incident.
