Hunter James Wilson

RESCUE — A 2-year-old boy died Sunday after his father, driving a pick-up, accidentally backed over him.

Emergency responders pronounced Hunter Wilson dead at the scene — the family’s home on Sanford Drive in Rescue — California Highway Patrol officer Dan Stark said.

William Wilson, 51, was reportedly backing his Ford F-150 into the driveway of his  residence at 9:15 a.m. during a rain shower when the accident occurred. He was unaware his son had exited the home and run into the path of his vehicle, according to Stark.

CHP continues to investigate the incident, he added.
