Church hosting Internet dangers, porn addiction seminars

More than 40 million adults visit pornographic websites daily, and nine out of 10 children between the ages of 8 and 16 have viewed pornography online with more than half of their parents not being aware of it, according to statistics.

To help raise awareness about the dangers associated with pornography for adults and children alike, Rolling Hills Christian Church in El Dorado Hills is hosting special seminars open to the public Nov. 11-12.

The seminars will feature special guests Craig Gross, the founder of XXXchurch.com and author of several books, including “The Gutter,” “Jesus Loves Me This I Know” and “The Dirty Little Secret.” Gross will be joined by comedian David Dean as the church spotlights one of the most devastating issues impacting men, marriages and children.

On Nov. 11 the church will host a parenting seminar from 7 to 9 p.m. on the issues children can face when accessing the Internet and participating in social media, sexting and chat rooms. The seminar will provide parents with tangible tools to help protect their children. Next, on Nov. 12, the church will host a men’s breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on pornography addiction for men. Additionally, Gross will address Rolling Hills parishioners on Nov. 13 at regular scheduled services at 9:30 and 11 a.m.

“These seminars challenge the notion that pornography is not dangerous,” said Jake Larson, associate pastor at Rolling Hills. “By providing hope, satisfaction and healing, we can help change the sexually intoxicated nature of our culture and show that life can be lived with a purpose beyond personal gratification.”

Tickets for the seminars are $10 each and can be purchased online at rollhillchurch.com. The men’s breakfast will include pancakes. Rolling Hills Church is located at 800 White Rock Road in El Dorado Hills.
