Thanks to a generous donation to the American Cancer Society, El Dorado Hills resident Ann Kubel sang with Chicago during a San Jose performance.

El Dorado Hills resident Ann Kubel had the opportunity of a lifetime when she recently performed with the legendary rock and roll band Chicago at the band’s San Jose concert. Kubel sang the lead for their hit song “If You Leave Me Now.”

“I was so excited to do this” she said.

Over the last three years, Chicago has partnered with the American Cancer Society to raise funds and awareness to help end breast cancer. In order to accomplish that, Chicago has a donation drive in each city they perform. The highest bidder is given the chance to get up on stage and sing a song with the band.

Ann and her husband Dave were escorted backstage before the concert to meet the band, then taken to their seats. About 20 minutes into the concert, Ann was again led backstage, fitted with an earpiece, then introduced and brought on-stage to sing — with no rehearsal.  She received a thunderous standing ovation for the performance.

Dave summed up the night, “What an incredible experience. Ann did fantastic!”
