Families needed to host summer exchange students

Six families are still needed to host French exchange students from July 11-29. The sponsoring organization is Oregon-based American Discovery, an international home-stay organization for families in Oregon, Washington, California and Colorado. El Dorado Hills mother Shawn Harper is acting as the organization’s liaison for the area.

“I’ve hosted both German and Spanish kids. This year we are bringing high school students over from France,” said Harper. “It’s a really cool experience for all involved.”

Families are not expected to entertain the exchange students, who are taken on many chaperoned outings including San Francisco, Six Flags, Lake Tahoe and Sun Splash.

“The kids just want to experience how American families live,” Harper explained. “This really is an amazing experience for the American families as well and most often the kids make life long friends with the exchange students.”

Host families may live in surrounding towns.
