Firefighting duo contains flames

Not on the clock … that didn’t matter last Wednesday morning to El Dorado Hills firefighter/engineer Matt Belleci and retired Sacramento firefighter Roy Cameron.

The two were first on scene at a Crest Mar Court house fire that started in the garage just before noon on May 2. Thanks to their efforts with a garden hose, the firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to the home. Belleci was on his way to work when the fire call came through dispatch. Cameron lives next door to the affected home.

“Engineer Belleci arrived at scene of the house fire to find a vehicle on fire inside the garage with the fire extending to the house. Firefighter Belleci and retired firefighter Cameron were able to contain the fire until El Dorado Hills Fire Engine 84 arrived on scene and pulled a larger hose line,” according to information shared by El Dorado Hills Fire Marshal Mike Lilienthal. “Engine 84 fully extinguished the fire.”

The owner of the house was very appreciative for the arrival of the off duty firefighters who saved his home,” Lilienthal continued. “His car was destroyed, but only smoke damage was done to his garage and home.”
