Food bank gets into the holiday spirit of giving

PLACERVILLE — The Food Bank of El Dorado County proudly present its Holiday Outreach event for 2010.

For more than a decade  your local Food Bank has teamed with the community and provided the supplies for a complete holiday meal to our less fortunate neighbors in communities throughout El Dorado County with this incredible event that serves our most at risk children, families and senior citizens.

On Dec. 17 and 18 at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville the community will gather in grand fashion to assist those in need during these very tough times. Hundreds of passionate volunteers will work to produce more than 1,000 Christmas Baskets they will later distribute to local families that might otherwise go without. With the combination of dedicated volunteerism, donations and community sponsorship this annual event is by far the charitable outreach event of the year.

If you are interested in volunteering for this event e-mail the Food Bank of El Dorado County at info@foodbankedc.org. For those interested in donating food or making a monetary donation call the Food Bank at (530) 621-9950 or (916) 939-6774. Donations can also be mailed to our offices at 6230 Enterprise Drive, Diamond Springs 95619 or by visiting our official website at www.foodbankedc.org.  The Food Bank of El Dorado County can also be found on various social networking sites including Facebook and twitter.

Join the Food Bank of El Dorado County as they work to prevent hunger and provide hope in communities throughout El Dorado County. Together, we can make a difference for those in need this holiday season and year round in the community..
