Food Bank of El Dorado County needs dependable, professional volunteers

The Food Bank of El Dorado County is looking for several volunteers to assist El Dorado County’s largest collaborative charity in two crucial areas of the Food Bank’s daily operations.

Do you think you have what it takes to be a dependable, professional volunteer on a regular basis for a great organization? If so the Food Bank can use your skills.

We are currently looking for volunteers to assist with our daily food rescue route by joining our drivers one day a week to operate the Food Bank’s daily Food Rescue Program. Every day, FBEDC trucks call on local grocers throughout El Dorado County to collect 3000 to 4000 pounds of donated food products including meats, dairy products, fruits, vegetables, frozen food items, breads, pastries and more.

These items are loaded into our trucks at each location and transported back to the Food Bank distribution warehouse in Diamond Springs for distribution to our areas most at-risk population.  The hours of this volunteer position are 6 a.m. until 10 a.m. one day per week. If you are an early riser, have the ability to lift at least 50 pounds and interested in joining the Food Bank’s Food Rescue Team then we would like to hear from you.

The Food Bank is also seeking a team of office project volunteers to assist our administrative staff in our new Cameron Park office that operates Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.. If you are skilled in a professional field that is suitable to fit our administrative needs then the Food Bank of El Dorado County just may be your best bet for giving back to your community.

We need volunteers for various office related duties including phone calls, data entry, research, filing and especially preparing our upcoming holiday mailing for distribution to community. Interested individuals must have reliable transportation, a professional appearance and be able to commit to assist the Food Bank at least one day per week for a period of two to four hours.

Those interested in assisting the Food Bank of El Dorado County with its daily Food Rescue Program or assisting with our administrative needs should call the Food Bank at (530) 621-9950 or e-mail [email protected].
